Dr John Masson
John has worked locally as a gastroenterologist since 1997, and has played an active role in developing medical services within the north Queensland region.
He has held the roles of Director of Gastroenterology, Director of Physician Training and Director of the Institute of Medicine and holds the post of Associate Professor at James Cook University. In addition to an interest in general gastroenterology and viral hepatitis he has been heavily involved in teaching and mentoring through JCU and with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. He was awarded the RACP Excellence in Mentorship award in 2011.
Currently, Dr Masson works as a gastroenterologist as part of Gastroenterology North Queensland and performs procedures at the Mater Hospital. He also provides teaching in colonoscopy and gastroscopy at The Townsville Hospital and helps head up the viral hepatitis clinic caring for patients with Hepatitis C and B within the region.
Dr Masson is committed to high quality, affordable gastroenterology and hepatology and is dedicated to the improvement of medical services within the north Queensland region through his work at the university and support in physician training in Townsville.
